Board of Directors Election

Following is the slate for the MFM Board term beginning July 1, 2017. Six (6) MFM members have been nominated for a three-year term as Director. Directors' terms run from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2020. 

Please vote for Six (6) Directors (click on button below candidates or download ballot and send back to MFM). Additional space is provided for write-in candidate(s).

Deadline to cast your vote is April 21, 2017. Voting is open to MFM members only. Results will be announced at the MFM/BCCA Annual Conference in Orlando during the General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, May 24th. 


 

 

David Bestler
     

 

Dave Bestler is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hubbard Radio, LLC. Dave was promoted to this position in April 2011 when Hubbard Radio purchased radio stations from Bonneville International in Chicago, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, and Cincinnati. Dave has been with Hubbard Radio since May 2004 and until his promotion served as Vice President and General Manager for KSTP- FM (KS95). During his tenure, Dave led KS95 to great ratings and financial success. Under Dave’s leadership the station gained national recognition, winning two NAB Marconi awards for broadcast excellence and two NAB Crystal awards for community service. He was recognized twice by Radio Ink magazine in its “Best Manager in Radio in a Large Market” list.His career in radio began in 1989 in Minneapolis-St. Paul at WCCO as the Assistant Controller. He worked for eight years in the finance side of the business, with his last position as Market Controller for WCCO-TV, WCCO- AM, and WLTE-FM.To broaden his knowledge of the radio business, he moved out of finance and into the sales side of the business. His first sales position in 1997 was as National Sales Manager for WCCO-AM and WLTE-FM. In 1998, he was promoted to the General Sales Manager at sister station WXPT-FM. In 2002, he left Minneapolis-St. Paul for two years to work for Cox Radio Louisville, KY. His last position there was Director of Sales for WVEZ-FM, WSFR-FM, WRKA-FM, and WPTI-FM. Hubbard Radio brought him back to the Twin Cities for his first VP and GM job.Since returning to the Twin Cities in 2004, Dave has been active in the community, becoming a member of the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, which along with Gillette’s Children’s Hospital, are the charities that the KS95 for Kids Radiothon support. Dave is also on the board of directors for Corner House Minnesota and the Minnesota Broadcasters Association. Dave has been married for 27 years to his wife. Their three kids keep them busy all the time with their activities!

 
Laura Graves

 

Laura Graves is the Vice President of Operations and Business Planning for ABC 7 Chicago (WLS-TV), the ABC owned television station in Chicago, IL. Graves oversees the financial planning, analysis and business operations for the top-rated television station in the nation’s third largest market.  She has held this position since March 2014. Previously, Graves held the position of Assistant Controller for ABC 7.Graves began her television career in July 2001 at WTVD Television, the ABC owned television station in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina as the Assistant Business Manager. Prior to that, she held Accounting and Audit positions in the Logistics and Banking Industries. She started her career as an auditor for Ernst and Young LLP.  Graves holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois.Graves resides in Chicago, Illinois with her husband and two children. In her free time, Graves serves on the board of the Chicago Loop Alliance, an organization that works to attract people and promote investment in the city’s Loop. She is also active in her children’s school, where she previously served as the Treasurer of the PTA and on the board of the school’s fundraising organization.


Steve Hall

 

Steve Hall is a financial executive with over 25 years of experience in the publishing industry. He joined GateHouse Media in 2008 and has held several different positions with the company and currently serves as the VP of Finance over their Central U.S. operations. In this role Steve leads the accounting activities for 41 Daily publications and over 100 other Weekly and specialty publications.Prior to working for GateHouse he was with a group of newspapers in Western NY with CNHI for six years, the last two as publisher of the Niagara Gazette and Lockport Union-Sun & Journal. Before that he was with Media General for eight years in a variety of financial management positions in Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia.Steve graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He has been active in a number of civic and community groups at various locations and has been a member of the Media Financial Management Association for several years where he has been actively involved with the Newspaper Committee and is currently co-chair of that committee. Steve currently resides in North Canton, OH, with his wife, Cathy, and son, Michael.

Paul Nesterovsky 

 

Paul E. Nesterovsky has served as Vice President, Tax of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. since August 2011. Prior to that and from 2006, he served as Sinclair’s Tax Director. From 2003 to 2005, he served as Corporate Tax Manager of Sinclair and prior to that he held various roles in the tax department. Prior to joining Sinclair in 1999, Mr. Nesterovsky worked in the tax departments of Ernst & Young and Wolpoff & Company and the accounting department of Genesis Health Ventures, Inc. Mr. Nesterovsky received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Towson University and his Master of Science degrees in Taxation and Finance from the University of Baltimore. Mr. Nesterovsky is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the Tax Executives Institute.

Chuck Poduska 

 

 

Chuck Poduska is the Vice President of Finance for Meredith Corporation’s Local Media Group. In his 35 years with Meredith he’s also held positions in Internal Audit and Publishing finance. In broadcasting since 1989 he’s worked with several of Meredith’s FOX, CBS and independent stations as both Business Manager and HR Director.A graduate of the University of Iowa with a BS in Accounting and a CPA, he and his wife JoAnn are Iowa natives with two children and grandchildren. They spend their free time travelling and antiquing. Chuck has been a long time member of MFM.

 

John Sanders
 
  John S. Sanders is a Principal and Founder of Bond & Pecaro, Inc., a Washington, DC based consulting firm specializing in valuations, asset appraisals, and related financial services for the media and communications industries. Prior to the formation of Bond & Pecaro in 1986, Mr. Sanders was Manager, Appraisal Group, with Frazier, Gross & Kadlec, Inc. He worked for that firm in various analytical and managerial positions between 1982 and 1986.Mr. Sanders has been active in the MFM for over 20 years. He is a frequent speaker at the Media Finance Focus conference and a regular contributor to the MFM’s The Financial Manager magazine. Additionally, he serves on the MFM’s Editorial Advisory Board as well as its Newspaper Committee.Mr. Sanders has been actively involved in both fair market valuations and asset appraisals of over 3,000 communications, media, and related businesses. His clients range from the largest publicly traded companies in the country to small family-owned businesses. He has been qualified as an expert in valuation matters in venues including the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware, and the American Arbitration Association.He is a member of the American Society of Appraisers and holds the Accredited Senior Appraiser (“ASA”) designation in the specialty of business valuation. Mr. Sanders received a B.A. Cum Laude in Economics and International Studies (Honors) from Dickinson College. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
